Family Therapy
Family therapy, as described by the Mayo clinic, is a type of psychological counseling that can assist members in a family with working out conflicts, issues within the family system, and improving communication.
By facilitating the session, Dr. Gorog offers a neutral, unbiased, safe environment where individuals can openly discuss and explore problems within the family system.
Dr. Gorog is a licensed psychologist and uses evidence based therapy to achieve the goals of each family member when facilitating family sessions.
Dr. Gorog has seen families for various reasons, including but not limited to:
resolving conflict between adult children and their parents
dealing with impact of family members’ substance abuse or mental illness
coping with the loss of a family member,

As a clinical health psychologist with experience in a primary care setting, Dr. Gorog also has extensive experience assisting families with anticipatory grief, facing painful fears and feelings of a family member with a terminal illness, and helping family members on how best to support a loved one with a terminally ill diagnosis.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy can have various names; couples counseling, marital counseling, premarital counseling, relationship therapy, relationship counseling, etc. Fundamentally, these various therapies describe the same occurrence - people in a committed relationship seeking assistance in learning how to work through their differences, communicate better, and/or solve difficulties in the relationship.
While some issues can be solved by the couple themselves, sometimes it is best to have a psychologist assist by facilitating therapy that is emotionally focused and seeks to improve relationship satisfaction and conflict resolution between a couple. Therapy for couples can resolve a current problem, prevent problems from occurring, or exist as a check in for a couple experience a period of transition or increased stress.
Research done by the American Association of Marriage and Family found over 97% of surveyed couples received the help they needed from couples therapy while 93% of couples said therapy gave them more effective tools for dealing with conflict.
